Housing Officer, Look Ahead Care Support and Housing, Kensington & Chelsea
Looking for a new role where you can make a difference every day?We’re looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Housing Officer to join our Heaney Hub Service in Kensington & Chelsea
£25,000 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

The Housing Officer will be the main point of contact for the Heaney Hub cluster of properties (Heaney Lodge, 100 & 132 Lancaster Road, 49 & 57 Cambridge Gardens) his will include all building, facilities and maintenance related issues. The Housing Management Officer will be required to monitor the maintenance function and facilities across the sites and raise any contractor performance issues to the head office based Landlord and Property Team.
Job Overview
The Housing Officer will represent Look Ahead with the day-to-day communications with Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea with the housing management of the properties in the borough. The HMO will be responsible for all building, facilities and maintenance-related issues, and working with Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to ensure a seamless transition for their homeless persons’ nominations into the properties. The Housing Officer will work with Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to minimise void turnover periods following a customer moving into the properties. The Housing Officer will seek to minimise customers’ rent and service charge arrears and will also assist the customers to maximise their welfare benefits where they are eligible. The Housing Management Officer will be able to identify additional support needs that may become evident once the resident has moved in before referring or sign posting them the Heaney Hub support staff or other appropriate service.
- Competent in using computers and able to extract reports in excel
- Knowledge of void monitoring
- Knowledge of legal and statutory requirements in relation to property management
- Ability to write clear reports and letters
- Ability to respond to complaints
Leadership and performance management skills
- Experience of maximising income collection
- Main point of contact for the service and contractors and carry out day to day management of the buildings and the facilities
- Management of all void processes – void inspections, void event monitoring, pre voids, void snagging lists
- Report maintenance issues and repairs
- Monitoring contractors performance
- Ensuring equipment is repaired, serviced, inspected and tested at the specified times – i.e. PAT Testing, 5 Year Wire Testing
- Put in processes and procedures for the management of the building & facilities
- Lead on repair issues with within the Heaney Hub under the supervision and instruction of the Contract Manager
- To liaise and communicate with customers, Look Ahead staff/departments, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Manage the customers rent and service charge arrears, maximise the customers’ welfare benefits.
