Job Description

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Heat Treatment Operator to work at our customers site in Derby on a long-term contract basis.


Role details:
Role title –Heat Treatment Operator
Contract duration –December 2022

Contract type – PAYE via Umbrella – INSIDE IR35
Hours – 37 hours - 3 shift
Location – Derby Raynesway

Sector – Nuclear and Defence

As a member of the Heat Treatment Team your key accountabilities will include:

  • Using Ceramic, Infrared and Gas heaters to pre-heat components
  • Running a large heat treatment furnace, setting components, attaching thermocouples, reading heat treatment charts
  • Use of spot welders
  • Manufacture of high integrity components of varying sizes to tight engineering tolerances.
  • Use of all hand tools, torque wrenches.
  • Use of overhead cranes and manipulation equipment.
  • Work within a Team to effectively resolve production and quality issues.
  • Interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications.
  • The flexibility to undertake other tasks/activities when required.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and processes, undertaking training where necessary.
  • Experience of large vessel manufacture in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Awareness of HS&E requirements.

Profile

Skills and experience required for this role:

  • Experience in a Heat Treatment or heavy Welding environment
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Capable of managing time/resource effectively.
  • A flexible-working attitude to taking on other tasks/activities when required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience of working in Heavy Engineering and Pressure vessel manufacture.
  • Experience of working in the nuclear industry, and or chemical/food industry standards.
  • Experience of working to lops, sops, technical work instructions.
  • 5s and visual management.
  • Experience of working in a Large Welding or Furnace environment.
