The Company

A global energy infrastructure and technology company. As their asset portfolio expands globally so does their ambition to achieve significant year-on-year growth. As part of investment into becoming an industry leader the need for a HSE Manager to plan, champion and manage the onshore wind and solar projects is required.

The Role:

The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager will implement and manage the HSE strategy and tools for a growing portfolio of onshore wind and solar assets across Europe, Latin America and the wider Asia Pacific region. Acting as planner, manager and executor, champion, adviser and main point of contact for all HSE matters, the HSE Manager will ensure all company activities are performed following local regulations and best industry practices, keeping track of HSE KPIs and setting up all required policies, procedures and resources to achieve this.

Some other duties will involve:

  • Developing and implementing HSE strategies, procedures, risk registers, plans and management systems across project design, development, construction and operations of onshore wind and solar projects with potential to expand to other renewable and storage technologies in the future.
  • Ensuring all company activities are carried out following HSE best industry practices.
  • Developing and implementing procedures and documentation (including risk assessments and method statements) for company activities and ensuring implementation of required safety measures through active engagement with key stakeholders/relevant teams.
  • Executing and documenting audits and inspections to ensure effectiveness of HSE programmes.
  • HSE management of contractors, including monitoring compliance with HSE plans, local regulations and project permits and licenses during all project activities from early-stage site survey campaign works, resource measurement studies, through to construction, O&M and improvement/re-powering/decommissioning.
  • Engaging local consultants to deliver required HSE outputs according to local regulation and project permits and agreement and managing their activities.
  • Meeting with external bodies in relation to HSE issues and maintaining a good relationship with relevant stakeholders (local government and agencies, etc.).
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure successful integration of HSE at relevant project stages and ensuring health and safety requirements are embedded in project design, with financial implications considered at project analysis stage.
  • Ensuring all company personnel hold the correct level of H&S training and qualifications to safely perform their duties.
  • With support from the relevant department where required, ensuring the company and all contractors hold sufficient insurance to suitably cover the impact of potential HSE incidents.
  • Providing HSE advice to the wider team and subsidiaries as and when required and HSE leadership across the global team, organising training, inductions, toolbox meetings, etc. and championing safe working practices.
  • Being the main point of contact for HSE support. Keeping up to date with labour legislation, codes of practice and HSE regulations and ensuring project compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The Person:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree or similar in a relevant subject, or show a suitable training path has been completed for this type of role.
  • Minimum 5 year(s) of utility scale wind and solar projects and 10 years HSE experience of large-scale international projects.
  • Working knowledge and experience of CDM (or equivalent international) regulations
  • Experience in HSE management of utility scale projects throughout project lifecycle, including identification and management of project risks including environmental and social.
  • Track record developing, implementing, and managing HSE strategies and management systems.
  • Experience in LATAM renewable energy projects.
  • Able to take ownership of and resolve HSE matters, implement improvements and preventive measures.
  • Must be able to speak English and Spanishfluently.
  • Microsoft Word, Project and Excel proficient.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, including strong attention to quality of work, details, and the ability to prioritise and control own workload.
  • No relocation package.
