WELLINGTON COLLEGE

Required ASAP

Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We are currently looking for a relevantly qualified individual with proven relevant experience, to join us as HSE Manager.

Our 36 strong Works & Estates department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and buildings within a 400-acre college site. This is your chance to play a vital role at the heart of our highly professional team.

Your challenge will be to drive the continuous improvement of Health, Safety and related Environmental Management throughout the College and ensure that we meet our necessary legislative obligations. Indeed, we will rely on you to act as the College’s ‘competent person’ under the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations, as well as provide training, lead committee meetings, conduct audits and formulate HSE policies. Carrying out risk assessments, contributing to the implementation of the HSE strategy of the College, ensuring H&S policies are adhered to and advising staff on the relevant legislation – these are all aspects of this high-profile role.

To succeed, you will need a NEBOSH Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Professionals, or similar, plus Graduate Membership of IOSH - or similar membership with another relevant professional body. You will also need a demonstrable track record in H&S, possibly gained in the education sector. Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety and related environmental legislation is a ‘must have’ too, as is the ability to work to a programme, meet deadlines and organise and prioritise your work.

The interpersonal skill it takes to quickly gain credibility, influence and motivate senior managers and teaching and support staff for change and improved performance is also essential. What’s more, when it comes to providing advice to train and promote excellence in health, safety and environment matters to staff at all levels or coordinating the activities of other members of the team, again, you have the skills we’re looking for.

So, if you have all of the above, plus computer literacy (we use Microsoft) and are committed to the safeguarding of children, apply today.

Closing date: 6pm on Sunday 11 July 2021.
