We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to work at our lovely care home in Canterbury, Kent for 18 hours per week with alternate weekend working. You must be flexible, dedicated and committed to deliver the highest standards of care for the residents we support.

You will be supporting clients with personal care (washing/dressing), serving food and drinks, and assisting with laundry.

You will be required to keep accurate daily records and promote health and safety.

The successful candidate will have to be flexible and be prepared to take on further training where applicable.

NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care is preferred for this role, but we will accept candidates willing to achieve a qualification.

Responsibilities and Duties

· To be committed to the Philosophy of Care

· To read and understand the Care Plans

· To be able to write the report according to the Care Plan

· To keep up to date any charts in use

· To be aware of deterioration of health and report to person in charge

· To be knowledgeable of Residents physical conditions

· To keep Residents rooms and cupboards tidy

· To undertake some laundry and light cleaning duties

· To be able to prepare light meals

· To have an understanding of the various diets

· To serve food to the residents and be aware of the Food hygiene regulations

· To be polite, caring and understanding of the Residents needs

· To be able to work with colleagues as part of the Team and to understand the needs of others

General

· Be aware of the Policies of the Home and be involved in promoting Health and Safety

· Be aware of the Manual Handling Policies, lifting regulations and recommendations

· Familiarise oneself with the Fire regulations, equipment and exits and to act sensibly in the event of a Fire carrying out reliably any instructions given by the trained person in charge

· Familiarise yourself where Gas, Water and Electricity isolation switches are located and to disconnect supplies in an emergency

· To read the COSHH data before using any cleaning substance and to adhere by the regulations for use

· To adhere to Infection control measures

· To contribute ideas and listen to advice

· To be polite and caring to Residents, Visitors and colleagues

· To be aware for the need for confidentiality

· To attend training sessions when arranged

From 11th November 2021, new regulations will require all care home workers, and anyone working or volunteering inside the indoor premises of a CQC-regulated care home providing nursing or personal care, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (for a two dose vaccine that would mean both doses), unless they have a medical exemption.
