Job OverviewThe opportunity has arisen to join our kind, caring and compassionate team here at St Andrews Ward , to deliver therapeutic care.We provide assessment and treatment of acute mental ill health to adults of working age.Supporting people in their recovery is incredibly rewarding, however the role can be emotionally demanding in supporting people in distress.We will offer a comprehensive training programme and ongoing peer and clinical supervision.The ward has achieved and maintained AIMS accreditation.If you are passionate, caring and feel you could make a difference to people needing mental health care, please do call us for further details or apply for this post.Please be aware, the ward will be relocating to the Yeovil area in Early 2024.Main duties of the jobThe purpose of this role is to provide care and support to acutely mentally unwell people of working age.You will be working within an inpatient unit, are required to work in support of the qualified nurses and other health care professionals and carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by registered nurses/ occupational therapist.You will be involved in the delivery and coordination of ward activities.The Job involves listening and talking to patients, carers and colleagues as well as external stakeholders; observing patients behaviour providing close observation to ensure patient safety; encouraging patients with eating and drinking and personal hygiene; involving patients in diversional activities; escorting patients out of the unit; dealing with anger and aggression through explanation, negotiation and de-escalation; assisting in the management of violent episodes and encouraging patient to adhere to their care and treatment plans which include accepting medication.You will work over a 24 hour rotational shift pattern.Working for our organisationSomerset Foundation Trust were awarded the HSJ award for 2021- Mental Health Trust of the year.Our trust provides mental health services to all age ranges and supports people with a range of mental health problems whether they are mild, moderate or severe.The Trust offers...Annual leave.
