Do you have the experience and drive to ensure that in Warwickshire we deliver the best possible outcomes for our children and young people?

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and solution-focused Health and Wellbeing Worker to work within our Children and Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service in Warwickshire.

About us

Compass is a values based organisation whose mission is to create healthier lives and safer communities. We are passionate about making a real difference to individuals and improving health outcomes in local areas.

Recommissioned by Public Health Warwickshire in 2018, Compass provides countywide support for children and young adults who are at an increased vulnerability to misusing substances or have been affected by another’s substance use. We provide a highly innovative approach to delivering a range of holistic health and wellbeing interventions, working directly with ‘at risk’ and priority groups of children and young people (e.g. CLA, young carers, NEET, truants/excludees, children affected by parental substance misuse, mental health and domestic violence and abuse).

About the role

You will operate on an outreach basis (primarily covering the North of the county but in some instances countywide), delivering the service within co-locations including schools, YJS, youth clubs, Social Care and family and community hubs. You will hold a generic caseload of young people presenting with, or affected by another’s substance misuse, offering a holistic service with an accessible no wrong door approach. You will also take part in the Duty System, providing telephone support for professionals, young people, parents and carers and managing the text messaging service. This may include evening and weekend working.

The Person

Holding a relevant qualification in substance misuse/youth work/psychology/counselling, you will also:

  • Have experience of working with at risk/vulnerable young people in a community setting
  • Be able to deliver behaviour change support, including group work
  • Be knowledgeable about: safeguarding children, confidentiality, consent and mental capacity, contraception, STI’s, and risk taking behaviours
  • Adopt a flexible approach to work – hours and locations
  • Possess a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

The Benefits

In return, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme and OH Service
  • Excellent Learning & Development Opportunities and career progression
  • Generous Pension scheme
  • Life Assurance

To apply you will need to download and complete our application form. We would be grateful if you could also complete our equality monitoring form.

Closing date:Sunday 27thMarch 2022

Interview date: Thursday 7thApril 2022

You should note that as Compass delivers public health services, it is likely that it may become an occupational requirement that you must have COVID vaccinations, which would be in line with Government direction subject to the outcome of current consultation.

Compass is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and you should share our commitment. All Compass posts are subject to appropriate level DBS checks. We value diversity at Compass and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Established for over 30 years, Compass is a national charity which works in communities across the UK providing services spanning substance misuse treatment and rehabilitation, early interventions for vulnerable young people, school aged health programmes and associated prevention as well as treatment and health promotion initiatives.
