The Catch22 Multi Academies Trust is the vehicle for our sponsorship of an expanding number of academies focusing on learners who can benefit from small, supportive alternative education provision.

The Ashwood Academy is a small, supportive alternative education centre for learners aged 11 to 16-years-old. The national curriculum is delivered within a flexible and nurturing environment that recognises individual needs.

Job Description

At the Ashwood Academy, the national curriculum is delivered within a flexible and nurturing environment that recognises individual needs. Teachers provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which develops the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for future learning.

All staff, including learning support professionals, use a strong wrap-around approach which enables learners to build their confidence, overcome barriers to learning and progress to a positive next step.

Students at The Ashwood Academy will receive support either to be reintegrated back into mainstream schooling, or to receive the qualifications needed to succeed in sustained education or employment.

We are looking for an experienced and aspirational Headteacher to provide outstanding and inspirational leadership and management of every aspect of the alternative provision school including staff, young people, premises and resources. You’ll drive outstanding outcomes for young people in education, personnel development, welfare and behaviour, and ensure that the school’s overall effectiveness is judged by Ofsted as consistently good or outstanding.

We are looking for someone with the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A recognised higher qualification with significant experienced of teaching and planning with a willingness to work towards QTS and NPQH.
  • Degree in related subject.
  • Knowledge of schools quality frameworks and Ofsted.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements and legislation relating to school leadership and management including safer recruitment, safeguarding and health and safety.
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of young people, including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs.
  • Extensive behaviour management experience with students who have complex needs and extreme behaviour.

Salary: Leadership pay scale L15-L23 (£66,628 to £81,070)

Start date: asap

Contract:This is an interim position, while the School is transferred from Catch22 to Chiltern Academy Trust. The position may become a permanent role in the new leadership structure.
