We are excited to introduce this brand new role to Group Functions Change and IT Services - Head of Test and Quality.

In this role you’ll be expected to drive, shape and lead the team in order to meet the ambitious change agenda for our group functions. This is a key leadership role which is essential to develop the existing capability and to drive value from IT as a Service and drive the Test Strategy.

  • You’ll lead and implement the test operating model and transformation activities to embed modernised GfCATS test functions.
  • You’ll own the GfCATS Test Policy and Test Strategy and provide leadership and strategic vision of the GfCATS testing practice.
  • Be leading on initiatives to define and develop best in class testing processes and continuous improvement strategy to streamline the overall testing processes and capabilities.
  • Taking the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
  • Be accountable for shaping and maintaining a testing service (including 3rd party testing services) that remains fit for purpose and aligns to the strategic vision to ultimately raise the standard to delivery optimal testing that meets quality, time and cost initiatives. This includes test environments and testing tools.
  • Ensuring an ongoing culture of compliance, risk and control are factored into the test design and delivery of the GfCATS Test Team. Define and continuously improve testing and quality standards, approaches, and processes to guide the GfCATS product teams to ensure that we meet quality, security and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring that customers are the front and centre in everything that the testing team strive for and making sure that we treat customers fairly.
  • Be responsible for planning, controlling and monitoring resource requirements and ensuring appropriate and effective budget management
  • Delivering effective communication to all interested parties including stakeholders and Senior Managers to support effective engagement, decision-making and manage the smooth and integrated delivery of projects.
  • It’s essential you have ISTQB Testing Foundation qualification, ISTQB Test Management would be desirable
  • Have a good knowledge of general Insurance and pension domain and working in shared services specifically Group Finance and Accounting, Actuarial and Back-office HR & Risk functions
  • Have expert experience of working with functional and non-functional test teams and the understanding of their place within projects and ongoing BAU enhancements and currency changes.
  • Have a strong understanding of software development processes/framework, designing and implementing a Testing Operating model and leading test service transformation
  • Be able to evidence expert knowledge of how to lead and coach others to implement effective testing approaches
  • Have excellent knowledge of test tools that work within Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Have expert knowledge of test automation framework and tooling, Non-functional testing, writing, implementing and be able to maintain the test policy and strategy for large complex portfolio
  • Have proven experience in establishing the right-sized teams using a blend of in-house and TaaS resources, ensuring business and testing maturity outcomes are met
  • Have strong leadership to drive an innovative, flexible, repeatable and optimum testing service across the portfolio of projects, small changes, infrastructure and currency changes
  • Have experience of being a bar-raiser or champion of testing practices is preferable
