Who you’ll work with

Reporting to the SBG Technology Director, the Head of Bet Technology will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery and 24/7 support of front-end products and services for Sky Bet and Sky Games.

You’ll provide inspirational and energetic leadership to a team of fantastic Engineering Managers, Engineers and Test professionals and be responsible for their overall engagement, line management, wellbeing, and performance. You will create and contribute towards a working environment of positive relations and a culture that is inclusive, collaborative, empowering and delivery focused.

Your role in ‘better’

  • Delivery and support of outstanding software solutions that are secure, performant, reliable and help provide an engaging and safe customer experience.

  • Driving a collaborative, efficient and continually improving test function that complements and works in partnership with engineering and wider teams ensuring engineering excellence from the technical teams.

  • Lead by example in displaying the flexibility and desire to take advantage of new technologies as they emerge.

  • Develop and own the engineering strategy in conjunction with the Head of Technology for Gaming, ensuring this has sufficient input, visibility and engagement.

  • Working collaboratively with the Tech LT team to develop an active community of engineering practise for SBG Technology, focusing on the continual improvement of all activities and processes that involve Engineers.

  • Contribute to the identification and effective management of SBG Technology risks, taking ownership and driving actions to deliver effective mitigations.

  • Use strong leadership skills, developing a high-calibre team through effective recruitment, training, and coaching, empowering colleagues to drive positive change and forging collaborative working between Transformation and BAU initiatives and teams.

  • Work closely with the Operations function to ensure high levels of uptime, rapid resolution of customer-facing issues and a strong focus is established and maintained on service quality, reliability and stability.

  • Demonstrate experience in leading technology teams and have a successful track record of delivering sophisticated technology projects and programmes through muli-disciplinary teams using agile, lean software and design-thinking development methodologies.

  • An ability to nurture and improve the capabilities of your team, ensuring you grow their skills and support their career development.

  • You thrive on responsibility and completing tasks in a timely manner with good, clear communication.

  • Your ability to set priorities and focus teams on what is most important whilst maintaining resilience under pressure will be key.

  • Strong key partner relationship skills, able to understand and relay strategic objectives and plans and drive alignment
