Job Description

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational Head of Supply Chain with excellent communications skills, change management and business improvement experience. There has never been a more exciting time to join UKAEA due to the rapid growth we are experiencing as an organisation and consequently the Procurement Department!

To be successful in this role, you will be a proven leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead from the front. You will develop and implement project and programme strategies ensuring delivery of UKAEA corporate milestones. You will have a passion for working with vast groups of individuals coupled with the ability to build relationships with appropriate cross government teams.

What will you be responsible for?
  • Support the BEIS PO Commercial Assessment. Lead BEIS roundtable discussions in the bi-annual Commercial Conference on Supply Chain, report progress & results to the BEIS Group Chief Commercial Officer
  • Create a department strategy to define & deliver current & future requirements within the overall UKAEA vision & strategy
  • Be responsible for managing the Supply Chain team and development thereof, including setting targets and monitoring performance
  • Establish process for Strategic Partner Engagement, formulating commercial interface mapping
  • Take the lead and make decisions as UKAEAs BEIS Partner Organisation Head of Supply Chain at the regular commercial meetings
  • Provide commercial advice on all aspects of supply chain and commercial capability and take full responsibility. Lead on all decision making in this area and advise/inform the Head of Procurement and CFO of all key decisions in support of the function
  • Evolve the UKAEA’s commercial terms and conditions, policies and working practices
  • Conduct annual reviews of Supply Chain Charter and Supply Chain Policy
Qualifications

Essential skills, experience and competence required
  • CIPS qualified
  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience as a Senior Leader in Public Sector within supply chain and SRM, procurement and contract management in the field of large scale / complex programmes
  • Experience of implementing Supply Chain Policies and SRM Programmes, influencing senior stakeholders and gaining engagement
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of complex commercial and contract strategies and their impacts on operational delivery
  • Being innovative, a self-starter and results-orientated
  • Experience of working in a complex and changing environment with demanding business objectives in a R&D sector
  • Being the UKAEA Primary representative within BEIS for SRM Programme, Supply Chain Mapping and Strategic approach
Desirable competence

Whilst the position has a supply chain focus, an understanding/experience of both procurement and supply chain is of huge advantage to a senior level
