About the function

Digital & Technology is significantly revising its operating model with main objectives to maximize value for Diageo business via enhanced strategic capabilities, simple workflow of tasks translated in teams that have clear ownership of deliverable along the value chain.

The goal of the D&T transformation is to deliver more(faster time to market, effectiveness of solutions, increased capacity) with the same costs and upgraded capabilities(we need to leapfrog from where we are)

Our ambition is to be the digital leader in our industry and The Head of Solution Architectureand Engineeringfor the Consumer domain plays a crucial role making this a reality in partnership with the consumer enterprise architect, product/project teams and strategic partners. The head of solution architect will be the single point of contact on all process and technical aspects of Diageo’s DTC, marketing and retail assets and lead the design of all our DTC and marketing products and solutions.

The Consumer Solution Delivery team has been leading the design and delivery of various products and solutions built for our consumers, employees, and marketers to drive our global digital, eCommerce and marketing ambition in partnership with Corporate, Global Sales, Brand and Marketing Teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Shape the vision and technology roadmap for the Consumer domain in partnership with the Consumer Enterprise Architect

  • Lead the solution architecture and engineering practice for the Consumer domain

  • Manage and oversee the solution architects who will create the high-level product specifications and detailed design documents for the front-office products/solutions within the Consumer domain

  • Provide guidance to development teams and support the delivery of the technology vision and roadmap across the Consumer Product Line

  • Provide thought leadership to challenge and influence all technical designs to best leverage the capabilities of our platforms

  • Continually expand architecture knowledge, constantly seeking ways to broaden exposure to the latest and greatest trends and developments in the technology space

  • Collaborate with our enterprise architecture team to satisfy the needs of the business today, while building capabilities for the future

  • Incorporate the latest trends and innovations into the Consumer ecosystem in partnership with enterprise architecture and business relationship management teams

  • Ensure our technology investments and products are well integrated across the Consumer Product line to maximize benefit, create efficiencies, and lower support costs

  • Assess the system architecture currently in place and working with EA, Transform and Run teams to recommend solutions to improve it

Unique skillset required

  • 10+ years of experience in a technology-focused field

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and/or equivalent experience

  • Significant knowledge and experience in Direct to Consumer, eCommerce, Marketing, Media, and Retail, including key business processes and technologies

  • Experience of solution design on customer focused digital services such as web, mobile, eCommerce and eBusiness

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver integrated Business-IT strategy

  • Ability to understand business needs and technical constraints

  • Experience in developing solutions architecture artefacts

  • Experience of Agile (or agile / waterfall hybrid) development practices and techniques

  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a technical environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to discuss technical design with business stakeholder and translate design concepts to IT operations

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills

Architecture Skillset

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing fully integrated globally scalable omni-channel commerce architecture

  • Proven ability in designing an interconnected architecture that enables creation of insight driven experiences which can extend the right offer at the right time via the right channel

  • Expert in bringing technologies like DAM, CMS and PIM together to create the right data and content foundations together

  • Strong understanding of various fulfillment models (Agent, Consignment etc.) that can be employed to support the Global D2C Solutions

  • Experience in designing Dev-ops processes and team involving multiple stakeholders

  • Experience in IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing solutions related to one or more of the following domains: Cloud computing architectures, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure Cloud, microservices-based architectures, data transformation, DevSecOps methodology and automation

Technical Skillset

  • Proven experience with key technologies involved in an omni-channel commerce architecture,

    • Online Webstore (e.g. Shopify)

    • Retails Point of Sale System (e.g. Vend)

    • Online and In-store Ticketing Solution (e.g. Secutix, AnyRoad)

    • Restaurant Point of Sale System (e.g. Zonal)

    • Online Table Reservation and Booking Systems (e.g. Zonal LiveRes, OpenTable)

  • Proven experience with key foundational content and data systems,

    • CMS (e.g. Umbraco)

    • PIM (e.g. Stibo Systems)

    • DAM (e.g. Sitecore, StyleLabs)

  • Proven experience in building a digital platform driven by serverless technologies and powered by end-to-end CI/CD automation

  • Demonstrable experience in working with Consumer Data Platforms and Consumer Loyalty Solutions
