Responsibilities:
Within this context the Head of Software Development is a leadership role, accountable for the successful delivery of software development products within Barnett Waddingham. Given the strategic importance of this role, it reports directly to and works closely with the Head of IT.

The Head of Software Development will work with the Software Development Leads and Software Delivery Manager to manage our software development teams and with Product Owners to create product roadmaps in alignment with our business and technology strategy.

We are actively seeking an experienced Software Development Leader with a significant track record of demonstrable success to supplement our internal teams with additive skills, experiences, perspectives, and approaches.
Qualifications:
You will have the opportunity to shape and enhance this role as required to meet the needs of our clients and business. Working alongside the Head of IT and with our internal customers and IT teams you will have responsibility for leadership of software product development; designing & delivering firm wide technology and digital strategies; business consultancy, embedding a best practice change delivery model working with senior stakeholders, management of the software development teams and advising on & building a capability of technology architecture. You will also be responsible for prioritisation and resourcing in collaboration with Product Owners.

You will demonstrate a track record of senior IT leadership and management, have extensive experience of the agile software development cycle along with software development methodologies and project management principles. You will also have an understanding of systems architecture and how to design systems for scalability and interoperability. A good working knowledge of UK pensions, and employee benefits is desirable, but not essential.

You will have significant experience and a demonstrable successful track record of achieving improved business, client, and colleague outcomes through design and delivery of technology solutions. You will also have experience leading teams working in both Agile and traditional software development environments with responsibility for the performance and line-management of highly skilled, technical individuals.
