Reporting to the Director of Adult Social Care Commissioning, your responsibilities will include learning disabilities and autism, transitions, day opportunities and respite provision, advocacy, support for unpaid carers and those vulnerable adult services that support citizens with disabilities. Your role will involve all aspects of commissioning, strategic partnerships, quality improvement and commercial development.

This is a new portfolio of responsibilities reflecting the importance of this work for the City Council and our partners in the NHS. Your objective will be to embed an innovative commissioning approach that shapes markets and promotes the key principles of independence, supporting citizens to achieve fulfilling, healthy, socially and economically active lives, recognising the rich diversity of the city and its citizens.

The role calls for a sound understanding of commissioning, combined with the creativity to develop strategic approaches that are rooted in the lived experiences of our citizens. The ability to work effectively and connect with people quickly across the health and social care system and people with lived experience is essential. With your grip of strategic, tactical and emotional intelligence you will be the kind of collaborative and encouraging leader who embodies our approach.
