About The Role

Base Location Any SSEN South location including Reading, West London, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire or East Sussex

Salary: £99,000 - £148,400 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

SSEN Distribution is looking to hire a Head of Programme Delivery, SEPD. The successful candidate will lead and manage the delivery of a portfolio of Large Capital Projects on the electricity distribution network in the SEPD licence area. The scale of portfolio includes between 150-200 projects per year with a value range of between £2.5M-£50M, total value consideration of £250M. This includes all asset work programmes and investment projects above £2.5m, including rail infrastructure projects and major customer connection projects. The main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a team of approximately 75 direct/indirect professionals within the function, and collaborate across all enabling capabilities to achieve successful customer delivery.
  • Direct contract partners to ensure efficient planning and controls for delivery across the portfolio in the license area.
  • Lead SHE performance and actively develop and embed a safety culture with delivery teams and contract partners.
  • Develop, monitor and control revenue/ capital budgets for business area, ensuring that expenditure is managed in line with agreed budget and regulatory allowances.
  • Develop and empower staff and contract partner to deliver and perform to their full potential within a positive but challenging environment which encourages people to succeed and excel.
  • Establish a centre of excellence for project delivery and enable delivery excellence through knowing the customer and their business needs, understanding what works well and where there is a need to improve, and benchmark and adopt best practice.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience working in programme delivery in an infrastructure environment with a track record of delivering a large portfolio of work.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience of managing different forms of contract and commercial arrangements for successful delivery, ideally with a commercial understanding of value drivers for outperformance of the regulatory settlement.
  • People management skills and significant experience of leading and motivating large teams of people through multiple organisational levels in a significantly sized business unit.
  • Communication skills to engage inclusively through a range of communication channels and forums with excellent networking and influencing skills to drive sustained improvements in compliance and profitability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulated environment, particularly licence obligations for electricity distribution or a similar market.
