Summary

The Head of Operations reports to the Director - Operations. They will lead on the delivery of physical operations in totality for their region with full accountability for the performance of the rigid fleet operation.

This role has 2 direct reports (2 x Regional Operations Managers) who you will work closely with in supporting the overall performance across the region which consists of 16 operational depots/terminals and circa. 100 drivers.

This is a key role within the organisation and requires strong leadership along with a collaborative approach to work alongside the other Heads of Operations across the network as well as forming strong relationships with the Commercial Heads. The Head of Operations will deliver as directed on strategic initiatives to support continuous improvements and cost savings within their region.

This is a senior role within the operations structure with a prerequisite to be innovative, resilient, responsive, and collaborative. We are looking for someone to drive the operation forward, with a keen eye for detail and promote a safety-first culture through the team.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Accountability for Health and Safety for their region.
  • Full accountability of P&L and budget management for their region.
  • Deliver on strategic initiatives to support continuous improvement.
  • Evaluating performance and productivity.
  • Ensure KPI’s are achieved.
  • Collaborative working across operations and work closely with the commercial head within the region.

Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements

The role will be remote based however extensive travel throughout the region will be required as part of the role. There will be occasions where overnight travel will be required.

Education Required
  • Business/Logistics Degree or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Transport management CPC desirable.
Work Experience Required

The ideal candidate would have previous experience as a senior logistics manager within the fuel sector and/or worked within a FMCG industry. Previous experience of managing multi-site locations would be desirable.
