About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join us here at NWL as our Head of Operational Technology reporting to our Information Services Director. This role will lead our Communication and Technology Engineers, Process Automation specialists and Project Engineers, ensuring we are providing industry leading services to our Water and Wastewater directorates.
We’re looking for you to develop and implement our operational technology strategy ensuring that we’re meeting our goals for sustainability, reliability, and efficiency. This means you will work closely with Architecture, Strategy and Product Management to help transform the Operational Technology estate so there is a clear vision and direction.
We’re looking for you to be instrumental in delivering a great employee experience to the Operational Technology team. This means you will ensure the team is continually developing the technical and personal skills they need for us to be industry leading.
As part of the Information Services (IS) Leadership team you will provide strategic direction, ensuring standardised and effective data is captured. In addition, the successful candidate will establish clear governance and communication Operational Technology standards. This includes developing capital investment plans for each Asset Management Programme, ensuring quality of delivery.

About you
We’re looking for an experienced senior leader who thinks strategically, demonstrating their ability to make effective decisions that help us achieve our vision to be industry leading.
You will have proven experience leading a team operating in a business-critical environment, using your strong track record of delivery of an excellent employee experience. You’ll also have experience of delivering business improvements using technology and innovation within complex environments.
To be successful in this role we’re looking for you to have a good understanding or background in Process Control, OT, and SCADA. This is coupled with excellent organisational skills to effectively manage deadlines whilst balancing competing demands for resources.
You will have the ability to demonstrate successful experience of building trusting relationships with stakeholders, influencing at all levels to achieve buy in to new ways of working. This means you will also have proven vendor management experience.
Experience of working in a regulated environment is beneficial.
