Emsi Burning Glass is a leader in global labour market analytics. Our Global Business Unit works with universities, government agencies and other organisations to bring our world class labour market data to their challenges in Britain, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions.This role will lead our Global Consulting team, which uses our data to produce innovative research, consulting reports, datasets, models and visualisations to answer our clients’ most pressing research questions. The Head of Global Research will lead and grow the team, working with sales colleagues to develop new opportunities and with data science colleagues to continuously push the bounds of the possible in delivering on those opportunities.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the Global Business Unit’s consulting team, initially with one line report (Economic Analyst position) but we are looking to grow the team under the successful candidate.
- Develop project plans and oversee the execution and successful completion of custom consulting and research deliverables.
- Produce client deliverables by performing quantitative analysis using Emsi Burning Glass’s labour market data and other sources to research, model and make recommendations to clients in education, government and communities.
- Develop subject matter expertise on meeting the skill needs of the workforce, the future of work in regional economies and similar questions relevant to our clients.
- Communicate key insights and recommendations to clients, support and nurture client relationships and consult clients on how to use data to inform decisions.
- Knowledge of labour market concepts
- Knowledge of one or more of our main customer segments
- Excellent quantitative analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced skills in project management
- Skills in R, Python, SQL or related languages are an advantage
- Ability to develop compelling narratives from quantitative data
- Ability to explain complex concepts and findings in simple terms
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to solve problems creatively
- Bachelor’s degree or above in a field with a strong quantitative and analytic focus
- 2+ years’ experience in performing analysis of economic or labour market issues
- 2+ years’ experience in managing research or consulting teams
