The College

With over 10,000 students studying a range of programmes, Blackburn College is a large College with a rich heritage going back more than 125 years.

The College is in the midst of a host of exciting new developments including the complete redevelopment of the College’s Victoria Building which opened in 1888 and the redevelopment of the College’s Motor Vehicle facilities to respond to changing industry demands. The Role

Reporting to the Vice Principal (Finance and Corporate Services), this is a key management post within the College Leadership Team, with responsibility to take on a lead role for Finance, Purchasing. You will manage all aspects of the finance function, being responsible for the College’s financial management and financial assurance. This includes management and co-ordination of the financial accounting, management accounting, payroll, cash management, procurement, ledger management, credit control, value for money, insurance and licensing.

As a member of the College Leadership Team you will ensure that matters relating to finance are communicated and discussed at the appropriate level across College and will contribute to the College Strategic Plan.

You will also deputise for the Vice Principal (Finance and Corporate Services) regarding financial matters.

What We Are Looking For

You should be a Qualified Accountant ( ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and hold an Honours Degree in subject relevant to the post. You should have experience of financial planning and forecasting in a large organisation and experience of effectively managing teams of staff in order to effect change or improvement. You will have a proven ability to provide direction and leadership to inspire confidence and commitment from others, strong negotiating and influencing skills and the ability to inform and convince through personal credibility. Excellent communication with the skills to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences is a must.
