The Job

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Controls and Firmware Engineering leader to join a growing organisation to lead our Controls and Firmware Capability team. As Controls and Firmware Capability Lead you will be responsible for leading our team of experienced Controls and Firmware Engineers and Managers. You and your team will work closely with the other capability groups, our Product group and Customers to develop state-of-the-art controls and firmware for innovative, world-class electrification products and platforms meeting the highest level of quality and safety. You will work with world-class teams to deliver state-of-the-art products and platforms to help achieve our vision of a sustainable future for all

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible and have a keen approach to learning, as well as having a structural approach with the ability to interact and communicate at all levels of the organisation. You should have relevant experience in a Controls and / or Firmware capacity and ideally leadership. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline.

The Requirements
  • Leadership of Controls and/or Firmware teams and resources.
  • Controls and/or firmware development for embedded electronics systems and / or products for highly regulated applications, with a proven ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team in an engineering environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art controls and/or firmware engineering methods, principles, tools and technology, including:
    • World-class motor performance using state-of-the-art control techniques and/or firmware support functions.
    • RTOS and firmware architectures
    • Coding standards (MISRA or equivalent)
    • Firmware design (UML)
    • ASPICE processes (or equivalent)
    • Generation of hardware performance requirements
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
  • Dealing with customers, engineers, other business functions, outside service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in various controls and/or firmware software tools.
  • Good attention to detail and time management skills
