In 2021 Turntide acquired three North East businesses to establish our presence in the UK – those businesses were Borg Warner in Gateshead, Hyperdrive in Sunderland and Avid in Cramlington. The faster they can transform, the better it is for our planet.An Advanced Manufacturing Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to work closely with Technical Product Leaders, Product Design Engineers, Quality Assurance, & Lab Technicians to ensure that manufacturing test processes are appropriately validated to meet customer requirements. The role can be required to work at any of our three sites depending on business need.Job RoleIn this role the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the following:- Introduce new production test designs for medium to high volume production
- Develop and optimize manufacturing solutions, for both in-house or external plant
- Analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing yield issues at EMS or Turntide Production sites
- Provide DFM/A feedback to Electrical Hardware & Mechanical Design for NPI projects
- Lead PFMEA activities & support DFMEA reviews with Electrical Hardware & Mechanical Design teams
- Translate process design requirements & specifications from PFMEA reviews
- Ensure quality & safety of the manufacturing processes & equipment
- Support production including travel to external manufacturing facilities
- Experience designing & deploying manufacturing process solutions for high volume production
- Understand Quality & Equipment Safety standards
- Working with Global manufacturing sites and suppliers
- Knowledge of in one or more of the following:
- Battery storage solutions / Battery Management Systems
- Power Electronics (Inverters, DCDCs, OBCs)
- Electric Machines (PMAC, Induction, SRM)
- Electric Pumps and Fans
- Enthusiastic, flexible and able to thrive and succeed in times of ambiguity and change
- Structured individual with ability to interact and communicate at all levels of the organisation
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications and relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Good commercial awareness and proactive problem-solving skills to ensure business needs are understood and agreed solutions are delivered.
- This is a very hands-on position – we expect a person with a ‘roll up your sleeves’ attitude.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise work accordingly and meet tight deadlines
- Pro-active taking ownership of tasks given and follow through to completion
- Must model highest degree of moral and ethical behaviour
- Must be able to work alone with minimum guidance, but also be able to operate effectively as part of a team.
