GSK have a new role for a Head of EMEA VAT – Consumer Healthcareon a full-time permanent basis.

As Head of EMEA VAT – Consumer Healthcareyou will lead all VAT matters for EMEA, so providing business decision support, risk management and VAT optimization for the worldwide Consumer Healthcare (‘CH’) business in EMEA. In addition, the role will be responsible for the oversight and guidance of a small team of VAT professionals who will work on VAT matters for our APAC and LATAM regions.

Key Responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Provision of timely and proactive VAT advice on product VAT liability, M&A transactions, business models, contracting and other ad hoc matters;
  • Proactive management and mitigation of VAT risks arising in the business, including, as appropriate escalation of those matters to the Head of Trade Compliance & VAT through regular and dynamic communication channels and the reporting of those risks within the relevant governance structures;
  • Strategic management of VAT audits through adviser management and collaborative relationships with the wider finance & commercial organization exists;
  • Partnering with the Head of Trade Compliance and VAT to ensure that the VAT affairs of the CH business are arranged to maximize cashflow and minimize VAT costs;
  • Leading a small team (3 direct reports) of global VAT professionals and ensuring that an open, collaborative and coaching environment exists.
  • Maintenance of the consolidation system chart of accounts structure. Translation of new reporting requirements into new Chart of Account requirements, and provision of guidance/instructions.
  • Maintenance of the “Balance Sheet Flow” Manual
  • Liaising with Deloitte during all audit phases (Quarterly and Annual).
  • Preparation and maintenance of relevant consolidation process documentation to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements specifically allocated to the role.

  • A proven background in Tax, dealing with complex tax issues

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in providing comprehensive tax advice to the business
  • Proactive with excellent teamwork skills,
  • Key role in identifying and managing VAT related tax risk and optimisation opportunities
  • Manage external tax advisor relationships and budgets where appropriate
  • Excellent leadership capability to manage people and processes
  • Innovative thinking to drive changes and process improvements
  • Matrix management and global management skills
  • Ability to work in a complex and multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent business acumen, analytical, and financial skills

Preferred Experience

If you possess the following in addition to the above, it would be a plus:
  • A Tax qualification (CTA or equivalent)
