We’re looking for a Head of Culture and Tourism to take forward our ambitious cultural agenda through cultural, heritage and visitor economy strategies. You’ll lead services that will help us deliver a place-based approach, recognising the diversity of our places and communities, which through culture, heritage, markets and visitor attractions increase the vibrancy of the district. Your success will help raise the profile of Kirklees on a regional, national and international stage.

Key to your success will be building residents’ engagement with culture in all its forms. Working in partnership, developing, creating and managing relationships at all levels across the sector is at the heart of the job.

An established, proven leader, you’ll have a passion for both culture and Kirklees and will be ambitious for our place and your services. Experienced in the cultural (or related) sector and with an understanding of the challenges, nuances and opportunities within it, you’ll list relationship management amongst your many leadership skills and will relish the opportunity to work in partnership. Also, you will be experienced working with and supporting elected members to achieve the council’s outcomes. Skilled in financial management, you’ll know how to spot and seize opportunities for investment and funding and be comfortable transforming your services to have a much more commercial approach. Our behaviours and values are your way of working and you expect the same of your services.
