We are currently recruiting for a full-time Head of Account Management to join our dynamic team based in Newark, Nottinghamshire.This is a great opportunity for an accomplished senior manager within the waste industry who has extensive experience of providing excellent leadership in account management activities.

About the Role

The Head of Account Management is responsible for:

  • Maintaining customer relationships, and retaining and growing existing accounts (including proactive account management),
  • Maintaining and exceeding Company margin and revenue targets from business development and valuing engineering of existing accounts,
  • Supporting, coaching, and leading the team to achieving/ exceeding the team and individual business development targets as agreed from time to time.

Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategy

  • Implementing practices, policies, and procedures to secure, and drive a culture across the Company of exceptional customer service, and continual proactive business development and growth of existing accounts.
  • Developing and maintaining high level strategic relationships with the key decision makers for key accounts and (where practicable) managed accounts.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the current law and best practices relating to waste/ resource management.
  • Assisting with the preparation of tenders to potential new customers and existing customers and providing support to submit tenders timeously in accordance with agreed tender process.
  • Writing and executing a Business Development Strategy detailing the sales plan and growth areas per account and as a collective.
  • Contributing to the timely preparation of financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensuring that key accounts and managed accounts have a complete and up-to-date account development plan and are managed accordingly.
  • Contributing contents and ideas to digital marketing and marketing strategies.

Account Management

  • Identifying, pursuing, and capturing business development opportunities including by upselling, cross selling, innovation and providing value to customers.
  • Operating accounts and coordinating activities to ensure
  • Customer standards are met (or exceeded)
  • Contract compliance
  • Providing accurate and timely information as required by the business from time to time and ensuring the same from the team, including reporting against agreed KPIs.
  • Ensuring contract are retrievable, signed, and current. Ensuring contracts are reviewed in accordance with agreed ADP.
  • Representing the Company at external events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Utilising the company CRM system and effectively to manage customer information and pipeline.

People Management

  • Building and leading a high performing team, motivated and committed to delivering exceptional service to internal clients and who understand the strategic and tactical supplier relationships.
  • Coaching and developing team members to improve their expertise and commercial awareness.
  • Day-to-day line management of direct reports.
  • Building proactive relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
  • Performing all duties in line with core values (BASICS), mission and vision of the Company.

About You

Skills

  • Very strong presentation, selling, communication (oral and written), negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • The ability to exhibit innovative thinking, aimed at improving processes and achieving results.
  • A desire to continually learn, develop new skills and increase knowledge. Self-motivated and highly motivated to continually improve service delivery and value.
  • Numerate and Commercially Aware (Margins, Contractual etc).
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time/ workload efficiently.
  • Effective and efficient problem solving.
  • Good data analytics (to interpret, review and analyse data sets to identify trends) i.e., financial, waste information, etc.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

Experience

  • Proven track record of achieving successful retention and growth of existing accounts.
  • Extensive experience in Operations/ Contract Management/ Account Management/ B2B Sales Roles.
  • Extensive Waste Management industry experience.
  • Proven experience of successfully retaining, managing, and motivating employees.

Qualifications

  • Further or Higher Education qualification in a Business and/ or Environmental Discipline.
  • Be a member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
