University Hospital Wishaw , Wishaw ML2 0DPFull time (37.5 hours per week), Mon – Fri (Flexible working)Salary: Competitive (dependent upon experience ) (enhancements included)Here at Serco, we are looking for an experienced Head Chef to join our team at University Hospital Wishaw. As the Head Chef you will be Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the patient catering department, the Catering Department is responsible for a total meal service and hospitality services within the new NHS Acute Hospital for Wishaw General which has 630 beds on site. It provides patient catering of a breakfast, lunch and supper service 365 days per year. It also provides a staff and visitor restaurant as well as a variety of vending and hospitality options during contracted hoursMain Responsibilities Of The Role IncludeIn this role you will be responsible for ensuring the preparation, cooking and presentation of food is carried out in strict compliance with HACCP, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety & infection control guidelines and requirements, You will oversee the menu planning and production of all food including special diets and be competent in Ethnic and Cultural Catering. You will liaise with the hospital dietitian and SLT on a routine basis to establish special dietary needs for patients and work closely with the store person for effective placing of food orders. You will be responsible for the effective operation of equipment and machinery and will be accountable for compliance with the Environmental Health GuidelinesAs a senior member of staff you will also be responsible for personal development of chefs and yearly PDR`s, ensuring staff are adhering to the use of standard recipes, conduct investigations for any staff grievances, the work performance of the chefs within the Main Patient kitchen and the authorisation of staff duty rotas, including allocation of leave and cover for absence.What You’ll Need To Do The RoleTo be successful in this role you will have previous experience in a similar environment. You will be proficient in Numerate, Literate & Practical skills and have excellent personal hygiene.You Will Also Need Be Competent In The Use Of The FollowingYou will possess a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or SVQ Level 2 qualification, professional Cooking experience, Intermediate Food Hygiene Certification – (working towards or holding an Advanced Food Hygiene) and have good working knowledge of allergens, standard Nutrition and Dietetics and special and therapeutic Diets.
