Group Internal Auditor

Location – Merlin Head Office - Poole / Merlin hub - Basingstoke.

Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions on a global scale, we are looking for an experiencedGroup Internal Audit Managerto join our Internal Audit team on a permanent basis. This role can be based at our Merlin HQ in Poole or at our Merlin hub in Basingstoke with some flexibility offered.

Merlin’s Internal Audit department provides an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity to add value to the company’s control framework. The team supports the business by championing a structured approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Reporting into the Group Internal Audit & Risk Management Director, the Group Internal Audit Manager will contribute towards delivery of this service through completion of the following:

Key Tasks And Responsibilities...
  • Continue to develop department procedures and audit approach to ensure the department remains fit for purpose.
  • Deliver the Annual Audit Plan in accordance with KPIs and within budget.
  • Develop the Annual Audit Plan in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter.
  • Review planning files, field work and reports for all audits completed by the team.
  • Undertake audit assignments as required.
  • Day-to-day management of the team, including leave, personal objectives and development opportunities, workload, travel and general support as required.
  • Support the GIARMD with Internal Audit reporting to the various committees of the Group.
  • Act as key point of contact for all other assurance providers and stakeholders within the business.
  • Maintain communication with sites to monitor implementation of high priority recommendations.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support the GIARMD in managing the enterprise risk management programme.
  • Perform or manage adhoc projects/ investigation assignments as needed.
We Are Looking For The Following Skills And Experience...
  • You will be a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with audit experience, ideally within the leisure or retail industry.
  • Experience operating in international and multi-cultural organisation.
  • Independently minded and willing to challenge existing business practice.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A strong leader with change management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (including report writing).
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis.
  • Construction project assurance provision or accounting experience would be desirable.
But mostly, you should have a passion about visitor attractions and the high levels of customer service that are taken as the norm in such an industry.
