About Our Client

The client is currently in a period of rapid growth through acquisition, backed by private equity. They are an award-winning company with over 30 years of knowledge and expertise within their sector. This newly created Group Financial Accountant role is the first of many to come. Currently this role is fully remote with the occasional need for travel to offices.

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Group Financial Accountant role involves:

  • Responsible for the consolidated monthly Group Accounts which includes:
    • Monthly consolidated Group management accounts, including a comprehensive overview of financial statement performance, comparing actual results with budget and forecast with a clear narrative and explanation for senior management;
    • Preparation of the monthly consolidated balance sheet and cashflow, including analysis of Group cash and working capital;
    • SLT and Board presentations.
  • Complete monthly Group balance sheet reconciliations and analysis
  • Responsible for all intercompany tasks, including postings, preparation of monthly statements and reconciliations
  • Responsible for year-end statutory accounts and audit processes, including:
    • Preparing annual financial statements for group entities in accordance with UK GAAP;
    • Driving the timeliness and accuracy of statutory financial reporting by all group companies, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and support Accountants with the preparation of financial statements for their respective trading entities;
    • Preparation of audit schedules and analysis, together with liaising with the auditors.
  • Championing our new group-wide finance system (NetSuite), supporting finance teams at new acquisitions to migrate to the system and report their numbers efficiently
  • Support the Head of Finance with:
    • Developing a financial policy manual and controls framework;
    • Installing a continuous improvement mindset and proactively reviewing processes to identify issues, inefficiencies and implement and influence changes including increased automation of month end and year end processes;
    • Drafting new accounting policies for the Group, changes to existing policies, and accounting for complex areas;
    • Corporation Tax and VAT compliance for the Group;
    • Group Treasury compliance and cashflow forecasting.
  • Support the senior finance team on ad hoc projects as and when required

The Successful Applicant

You will be motivated to have a positive impact on the business by continuously improving finance processes and supporting colleagues to adapt to change.

Key attributes/skills are:

  • Fully qualified ACCA/ACA or equivalent (ACA preferred)
  • Experience of working with an Netsuite desirable
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Robust knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Proactive and able to use own initiative as well as the ability to work in a small team
  • Able to manage multiple work streams and deliver to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced growth environment and able to adapt
