You will be responsible for providing in-depth analysis on the markets we trade in (power, gas, carbon, system services) and the performance of our assets. Your analysis will be used to make decisions on the optimisation of Sembcorp Energy UK’s generation assets within the UK Energy markets. You will have an inquisitive nature, right first time approach, be looking to continually improve and be a team player. We will provide you with a mentor who will support your development and understanding of both traded markets and analytical techniques. There is also the potential for you to move into a trading role within Sembcorp in the future. Responsibilities:
  • You will be part of the fundamental analysis team, providing and presenting daily analysis and insight on the traded and system services markets and their drivers.
  • The team works alongside the trading team and you will play an active part in providing recommendations and challenging the trading strategy.
  • You will perform ad hoc quantitative analysis and model development to support trading and business decisions.
  • Your will work collaboratively with colleagues in the wider Trading and Optimisation team as well as Finance, Risk, Commercial, Operations and others, in order to deliver optimal outcomes for Sembcorp. Requirements: Essential Enthusiasm to learn about the UK Energy markets. Strong analytical skills. Clear communication skills. Demonstratable attention to detail. Ability to problem solve. The right to work in the UK. Desirable Experience of the UK Power/Gas markets, although not required, as full training will be provided. Experience of model development, quantitative analysis and analysing large datasets. Programming knowledge/skills. The role will require excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, influencing and organisation skills as well as strong commercial acumen. Attention to detail and the ability to focus on priorities under pressure and within strict time constraints is required as well as the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment
