GRADUATE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

BASED LIVINGSTON (HYBRID WORKING) – SALARY COMPETITIVE PLUS EXCELLENT BENEFITS PACKAGE

Based in Livingston ESS Recruit is proud to be supporting the growth of a well established business. They are a high technology equipment supplier into a range of sectors; including, medical devices, electronics, semiconductors and industrial manufacturing. They design and manufacture a range of innovative optical scientific instrumentation for a global marketplace. Currently enjoying a period of high growth they need to make the key hire of a Graduate Software Developer.

Their products combine customisation, user-friendliness, and high performance, and are experiencing higher-than-ever demand worldwide. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate level Software Developer to join their team. Reporting into the Software Team Leader you will be responsible for contributing to the design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of system software for their newly developed products and production tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the software development of new products and production tools, including graphical user interface, hardware control, data analysis, and software testing.
  • Ensuring that all activities comply with Company quality procedures.
  • Produce manuals and support documentation for system software.
  • Maintain full records and ensure safe keeping of all system software.
  • Provide support to Production Teams as required.

You’ll need to have a degree in Software Engineering or a related Engineering / Science discipline with relevant software development experience. Also needed is Microsoft windows programming experience – specifically in C# (WPF and/or WinForms) and an understanding of object-oriented design methods and patterns. Other advantageous skills to have would be experience of using Source Code Management and Bug tracking tools in a team environment, knowledge of other programming languages such as C++ and Java, Matlab experience, Graphics such as Data visualisation, charting, 3D and demonstratable UI design skills. Also great would be experience with Instrumentation – scientific/medical, imaging, hardware interfacing, data acquisition, USB devices, sensors and optical detectors, motor control, robotics etc.
