Graduate Quantity Surveyor (Midlands) 2023


We are looking for enthusiastic Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our 2023 development programme and help us shape the future.

As one of our Graduate Quantity Surveyors, you will play an important role in assisting with procurement, estimating, subcontract management and change management to deliver a multitude of projects both large and small across the midland’s healthcare portfolio.


What you’ll do:

  • Help minimise the costs of a project to ensure profitability and risk mitigation

  • Build relationships and negotiate with trade contractors and client representatives

  • Support the preparation and completion of site measurement and records, day work sheets, labour and plant returns

  • Assist with the procurement of sub-contract packages, including completing detailed tender analysis e.g. reviewing the bill of quantities and preparation of tender documents

  • Work within the projects commercial team and have responsibility in measuring and quantifying works for cost plan validation, completing interim and final account valuations

  • Prepare subcontractor contracts and issuing orders

  • Commercial project reporting, including cash flow reporting

  • Agree variations and additional payments with subcontractors and the client and produce the associated documentation inline with the contract

  • Assist with pricing projects and maintenance costs

  • Work with the project management and construction team to create project scopes

  • Other commercial tasks depending on project needs


Projects and locations:
You will be based at the Midlands Private Finance Initiative (PFI) hospitals projects and these locations include:

  • Mansfield – Kingsmill hospital
  • Derby – Royal Derby hospital
  • Walsall – Manor hospital

  • Have excellent communications skills and attention to detail

  • Commercially minded

  • A proficient user of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
