We are delighted to be advertising an exciting new portfolio working position for Salaried GP’s. This opportunity allows for sessions to be carried out both in our Urgent Treatment Centres within Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust as well as our GP practices within North Tyneside or Northumberland.GP Practice
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. The following list is not exhaustiv
A&E
  • Patient contact will be by both planned appointments arranged via 111 and the walk in ‘see and treat’ model. At busy times this may change to ‘triage and wait’.
  • Patients will normally be seen within a 15 minute consultation time which may expand with those presenting with less well differentiated / more complex problems. Those patients requiring further investigation or intervention will be transferred to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH) when stabilized.
  • Appointed slots via 111 should be seen within 30 minutes of arrival.
  • At no stage will the post holder be expected to work outside the limits of their competency limits and clinical advice is easily available from consultant colleagues at the Northumbria Hospital. The post holder is expected to be as flexible as possible with regard to the locality of their work.
  • An agreed amount of sessions will also be worked within one of our nine surgeries across either North Tyneside or Northumberland. The successful applicant will be invited to monthly educational events with fellow NPC GPs, be entitled to 5 days study leave (pro rata) and have top up indemnity fully covered by NPC. The successful applicant will be as flexible as possible with regard to the locality of their work.
All of our NPC practices benefit from investment in Clinical Coding and Medicine Technicians support as well as our newly developed Complex Care Team support. This removes some of the burden from our GPs’ day. Tasks like the processing of straightforward letters and routine medication queries are largely removed from the usual working day.We are a forward thinking organisation and as part of our culture we are embracing new technologies to improve the services we offer our patients.
