Job Purpose

As an Innovation Physicist at Tracerco, you will be part of a multi-vocational group driving the ideation and prototyping of innovative instruments and products for industry, based at our headquarters in the Teesside area. You will be joining a successful and busy physics team within the Product Development and Innovation group, where you can expect a friendly and forward-thinking culture in which your contribution will be vital not only to research but across the company.

Your responsibilities:

• Interact with our stakeholders and customers to understand the challenges they face
• Contribute innovative ideas and novel solutions to solve business and customer problems
• Develop the technical detail of ideas that will form solutions to these challenges
• Design, develop, and test and prototype solutions in experimental and computational settings
• Work alongside other physicists, scientists, and engineers, as well as supporting junior members of the team
• Effectively collaborate and communicate with the Electronics, Firmware, and Digital Teams to deliver projects
  
  

Requirements for the role:

• Ph.D. (or master’s degree and 3+ years of post-graduation experience) in nuclear physics or computational physics, or equivalent qualifications/experience relating to machine learning, detector physics, or image reconstruction using ionising radiation
• Can demonstrate applications of knowledge in academia or industry, as well as an aptitude for problem solving, data analysis, and reporting
• A general knowledge of a programming language such as C++, C#, python
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to present results within the business, as well as to customers and stakeholders
• Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally to work and collaborate with our global colleagues and customers, and to attend and present at relevant conferences
