Have you worked within a Compliance role or do you have a very strong understanding of compliance?

This role is a stand alone role. You would be the go to person within the charity for compliance. You would be responsible for communicating compliance to the teams and senior staff. You would deal with external fundraising agencies to ensure they are adhering to compliance and regulations.

This role would sit within Fundraising and communications.

Main purpose of this role is to design, implement and manage systems to ensure that fundraising and marketing activity is of a high quality, complies with relevant legislation and sector codes and is consistent with the Society policies.

Some of the key tasks:

  • To carry out a programme of detailed quality assurance activity and monitoring which identifies areas where improvements can be made and provides fundraising teams with recommended actions, with a particular focus on the management of telemarketing and face to face recruitment.
  • To provide support and guidance to fundraising staff in relation to compliance and what is required of them.
  • To prepare regular scheduled compliance reports to update stakeholders on levels of process adherence, issues/risks and learning.
  • To work with the team Heads to deliver compliance training to those engaged in fundraising or marketing campaigns.
  • To identify compliance issues which require follow-up or investigation and to conduct or direct any internal investigation.
  • To conduct periodic audits (including suppliers) to ensure that compliance procedures are followed and that compliance systems are effective.

Skills and experienced required:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing internal workflow processes, including those which monitor and ensure compliance.
  • Track record in co-ordinating complex projects involving stakeholders in different teams or departments.
  • Proven experience in developing detailed, comprehensive understanding of a compliance or regulatory framework and of acting as a subject matter expert tasked with sharing knowledge across an organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build networks, inspire and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues whilst acting as a critical friend or internal watchdog
  • Rigorous approach to quality and accuracy coupled with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong, confident communicator, with the ability to formulate persuasive arguments and negotiate effectively, including to senior colleagues and external contacts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including familiarity with its application in generating pivots and graphs to support reporting.
