Scope Of Role

To develop and build a footwear offer that meets the needs, desires and specifications of the customer within each relevant brand, in line with the overall brand identity and company ethos. Working in partnership with the buying and merchandising teams to improve quality and fit, while building a full and balanced range that maximises sales and margin performance.

The role is focused on the Yours and Long Tall Sally womenswear brands predominantly.

This is a hands-on role suitable for a successful technologist who has previous footwear experience and strong technical knowledge, combined with a passion for product.

Key Responsibilities
  • The role is responsible for ensuring standards of fit and quality are maintained across the footwear range
  • Completes technical specification and fit workbooks for all product, in conjunction with the buying team
  • Accountable for the fit sample process within the Critical path, ensures deadlines are met
  • Work alongside the buying team to expand and develop the Brand identity that maximises the potential of footwear product
  • Liaises with suppliers to ensure a commercial proposition whilst maintains production standards and product integrity
  • Ensure a comprehensive supply base for product range that has the capability and capacity to consistently deliver against current and future growth requirements
  • Ensure that suppliers conform to our code of ethics, accountable for the follow up of ethical audits and urgently address any potential issues
  • Product testing, accountable for communicating test requirements for both component and materials to supply base, ensure no use of restricted substances (REACH). Updates the supplier manual with changing environmental & legal requirements
  • Sets minimum product manufacturing standards, grading rules and width fitting to build a last library and drive fit consistently across product offer
  • Contributes to packaging manual and improves product presentation
  • Proactively communicates footwear to wider business e.g. Website ‘how to measure’ guide / social media team
  • Works alongside and supports technologists to ensure a consistent way of working

Skills And Qualifications And Attributes
  • Must have 3+ years demonstrable successful technologist experience in women’s footwear, preferably with experience of specialist markets
  • Proven track record
  • Experience of (and comfortable working within) a Buyer driven business
  • Results driven with sound technical product acumen
  • Expert knowledge of footwear supply base and key contacts
  • Strategic thinker with a hands on, action-oriented approach
  • Passion for the brand with a strong understanding of the demands of our customer
  • Highly motivated and a desire to be the best with proven ability to work well as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and at a fast pace with loyalty and commitment to the business
  • Within commutable distance of our Peterborough head office

This is a permanent full-time position, although we would consider recruiting as a freelance position for the right candidate if the need for flexibility was a barrier to application
