So what’s the Finance Systems Accountant role all about?

As a Finance Systems Accountant you will work with colleagues in the Finance team and beyond to drive continuous improvement to the financial systems utilised by PA Housing

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Systems

Act as the point of contact and conduit for all enquiries and requests for improvements and changes to PA Housing’s financial systems

Act as the lead Finance team interface with IT colleagues for all significant financial systems issues and enhancement requests

Maintain Chart of Accounts and ensure that any changes thereto are reflected in the reporting hierarchies of all affected systems

Act as the Finance team’s Oracle super-user and ensure that all essential system administration tasks are performed to standard

Work with users across the business and IT colleagues to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the P2P purchase ordering system, including supporting system development

Become the technical lead on Bluebox to ensure Rent and Service Charge deliverables are met, offering solutions and guidance on system optimisation.

Support the Capital Finance team to set up scheme codes, build development scheme reports, implement enhancements to streamline intercompany recharges
Manage end-user queries and triage / resolve as necessary

Controls

Co-ordinate the access matrices for all Finance Team members to ensure that the appropriate segregation of duties are maintained for each role. Liaise with IT colleagues to ensure that a robust and appropriate system controls environment is maintained

Ensure Financial systems documentation is maintained and updated including user guides for development teams

Supporting auditors with GL data extraction and completeness

System Improvement / Development

Project manage the implementation of approved new financial software and changes / upgrades to existing software

Work with Finance team colleagues to undertake process reviews with a view to improving efficiency through enhanced use of appropriate software solutions

Deploy change management initiatives to move personnel from legacy software / systems and discontinue as required (i.e. Insight)

Support the Treasury team in projects that include a new treasury management system (TMS) and enhancements to loan security database (SQL); also contribute to system administration for electronic banking systems
Develop robotic automation processes to improve efficiencies
Improve system integration and interfaces across finance and other systems
Liaise with software providers in managing relationships and contracts.
Contribute to developing system solutions to harmonise / improve / automate processes
Support the system development for P2P

To be successful in this role, we’d be looking for the following…

Qualified accountant, or part-qualified with firm commitment to complete qualification
Comfortable with the technical aspects of financial software – ‘ an IT expert in a non-IT role’
Ability to analyse and present complex information simply
Oracle Financials R12 – Configuration / Amendments of Oracle Financials
Sequel report writing skills
Experience of the various software applications typically used within a finance function
Experience of using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level
Experience of building strong and productive relationships with colleagues from outside the Finance function, particularly IT colleagu
