This role is responsible for providing investment appraisal and a decision support service to the business for major property investment decisions with a particular focus on new and existing store space opportunities. The role will deliver financial support to Sainsbury’s Property division to aid the delivery of our property strategy. This will involve liaising with a variety of stakeholders, providing commercially astute guidance to our business partners and as part of a variety of working group forums. The job holder will partner with senior stakeholders when required, supporting across the business area.

What you need to do

Lead Finance liaison with Property and Retail to support in new property opportunities, including new Sainsbury’s stores and Argos stores-in-stores, as well as existing space investment

Manage the delivery of the relevant appraisal programme and take ownership for the integrity of assumptions in the investment appraisal models

Interpret appraisals to provide insight, analysis, and commentary to stakeholders, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing

Support business partners to navigate financial governance required for their investment requests

Run Finance Basics master classes with wider business if required

Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance through cost control, driving efficiency and increasing return on investment

What You Need To Know And Show

Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with several years of PQE

Effective communicator with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen

Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance

Experience of maintaining strong financial controls

Advanced Excel Skills And Experience Of Modelling

What decisions I can make including budget

Empower to support decision outcomes within the governance framework

Prepare appraisals for Property & Company Boards

Management of assumptions used within the models

Day to day prioritisation
