Supported by a strong Executive Team, as the Finance Director, you will provide strategic and operational financial and accounting management for the Hospice through strategic leadership of St Margaret’s Finance, Estates, contracts & legal and trading activities.

As Finance Director you will be responsible for the development and oversight of the long-term financial strategy of the organisation, including providing expert guidance and advice to the CEO, other Directors and Senior Managers and the Trustees on the costings and viability of their proposals.

In addition, as part of our Senior Management Team, you will shape our strategic direction and ensure that we continue to provide essential services to individuals and families in Somerset.

We are looking for an individual with extensive experience in finance who has operated at a senior level within the charity sector. The successful candidate will be a flexible and meticulous individual who is able to present complex financial information to a range of audiences and lead multiple functions.

The Successful Candidate Will
  • Be a qualified accountant
  • Have operated at a senior level within a similar environment.
  • Have proven experience of working with charity finance and be familiar with Charities SORP
  • Have experience of financial forecasting and treasury management
  • Extensive experience of producing and reviewing statutory and management accounts and other management information.
  • Be able to offer professional leadership to the Finance Team to support their development
