Are you interested in working within the waste industry?

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Finance and Customer Relations Assistant to join our accounting team based in Bolton. The principal purpose of the role shall be to provide financial and customer service support.

What you’ll do:

  • Set up and maintain all new accounts on both the sales and purchase ledger.
  • Liaise with new customers regarding account set up procedures.
  • Completion of application forms for new accounts with suppliers.
  • Input supplier invoices onto finance system and maintain the purchase ledger.
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements.
  • Checking supplier invoices are valid prior to submission for approval.
  • Obtain approval for payment of purchase ledger invoices.
  • Produce purchase ledger payment runs in a timely manner for review / approval.
  • Provide operations support, dealing with quotations, tenders and queries.
  • Produce pricing schedules for customers and ensure IWS (waste management software) is up to date.
  • Prepare and issue any necessary customer / recharge invoices.
  • Update cash books with payments made and received in excel and finance software.
  • Prepare miscellaneous cheques and direct banking payments.
  • Raise and review customer invoicing for both waste stations.
  • Issue customer statements.
  • Carry out the credit control function, ensuring debtors ledger is properly maintained.
  • Produce recycling reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all copy tickets required are provided in a timely manner.
  • Support the annual audit visit, by assisting in providing any information required.
  • Use knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to carry out adhoc projects or resolve issues.

Hours of work are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.

Essential Skills

Have you got what it takes?

  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • IT Skills - Microsoft Office, waste station software and financial accounting software.
  • Experienced in a customer relations role, with the ability to put the customer first.
  • Experience in credit control and aspects of ledger/ accounts administration.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Approachable and a good communicator.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team with a flexible approach and strong time management.
