This Role will be reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance to measure and control the financial performance of the company down to gross margin. The role will also include working closely with the wider commercial team and foster collaborative relationships, knowledge share and improve margin performance as well as delivering transparent and quality financial and management reporting.The Role
  • Pricing structure to Net sales (includes rebate structures, Gross to Net adjustments, other pricing decisions by sales/commercial)
  • Cost elements which contribute to gross margin - including direct materials, packaging, freight and duty
  • Challenging the commercials teams to optimise P&L performance - current and forecast. This role ensures that the profitability of the company is protected & strategic goal of profitable growth is always maintained.
Responsibilities
  • Developing relevant and timely sales and margin reporting for both value and volumes. This includes tracking of effectiveness of any pricing strategies (through development of a revised methodology for volume, price and mix reporting).
  • Tracking and reporting of the Company’s hedged position on commodity trading. This includes back-to-back and spot trades.
  • Ensure controls are in place for key areas including:
  • Timely implementation of all pricing changes and one-off pricing requests (buy and sell)
  • Month end and accounting of customer and supplier incentives
  • Develop a clear understanding of commodity pricing pressures and its impact on the business to ensure these are tracked appropriately
  • Prepare and perform monthly financial performance reviews. Identify financial or operational issues and the identification of solutions. Develop and monitor the implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Provide key management information and analysis to make informed business decisions and to help drive business performance improvement.
  • Drive improvement through use of key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that the financial controls and relevant operational processes within the company are appropriate and effective in mitigating financial risk
  • Assist with ad hoc commercial projects as requested
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Professional qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or part-qualified with experience (minimum 2 years)
