To provide a technical service for both internal & external customers through the provision of meter logging through the installation of ancillary devices and AMR equipment, meter typing, rightsizing and correct specification of meters and solutions to meter related problems and requests.
To provide support within the Company for the technical aspects of water metering, support multiple business functions ensuring correct meter specification and Company policies are adhered to.

Job Accountabilities*

Provide expertise covering technical aspects of water metering, supporting other areas of the business ensuring correct meter specification to maximise sales

  • Deliver technical support and advice to external customers and consultants and assist in the resolution of customer disputes
  • Undertake rightsizing / meter logging activity and other on-site technical installations and processes, produce survey reports and reports on meter related issues and direct metering solutions and recommendations where required
  • Ensure technical support and on site assistance to Project Managers within Developer Services & Metering in execution of current projects
  • To provide technical advice and support, including undertaking of technical surveys, in relation to service offerings to customers
  • Carry out servicing and repairs to large commercial meters
  • Manage a working interface with meter installation & maintenance contactors
  • Provide flexible support in the event of customer impacting incidents
  • Act as an ambassador for UUW in all external meetings with customers, Developers, SLO’s and regulatory bodies
  • Decision Making, Authority and Control
  • Resolution of escalated queries
  • Contribute to the recommendation on the meter supply contract in accordance with the “whole life cost” perspective
  • Size and type meters according to ‘best practise’ taking into account any impinging factors (pipework alterations etc).

Knowledge and Skills*

A thorough understanding of metering and revenue metering practices and policies

  • In depth knowledge of current developments in metering
  • Expert understanding of Water regulations, pipe laying, construction techniques
  • An excellent understanding of metrology, meter installation effects, meter logging and other associated metering issues
  • Good knowledge of current legislation, Water Industry and Company procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of the Company’s billing systems and charges and tariffs policy
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and MS Share point
  • Ability to work under own initiative to establish logical options and select/generate solutions to meter related issues
  • Ability to plan work within SLA’s and use own initiative from time to time
