We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi-skilled Carpenter to join our team inSouth Devon. You will join us on a full-time permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.

What we offer:

  • A leading industry salary and overtime at enhanced rates
  • 29 days holiday, plus a day off for your work anniversary!
  • A company van and fuel card
  • Paid travel time over and above the first and last half hour of the day
  • We’ll provide a tablet as standard, as well as a “bring your own device” policy so we’ll contribute to the cost of your using your personal mobile phone
  • Extensive discounts platform
  • A range of medical and well-being benefits
  • We’re passionate about supporting each other, so we’ll also support you with any training and development you need to do your job well

About the role:

As our Multi-skilled Carpenter, you’ll support the continued growth of the business by providing reactive and planned maintenance services in the area as well as support larger scale projects.

Hours of work are generally Monday to Friday, but flexibility will be needed for start and finish times, weekends, night shifts, and an on-call rota.

Our engineers are contracted to work 40 hours per week - the reality is you’ll probably work closer to 45 hours and occasionally more, but we have good overtime rates in place and we provide you with a company van and fuel card to get from A to B. We are a reactive facilities maintenance business so no two days will be the same!

Because some of the sectors we work in involve close contact with vulnerable or young people, successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Your main duties as our Multi-skilled Carpenter will include:

  • Carrying out routine PPM tasks, reactive works, and small projects - sometimes on your own and sometimes part of a team
  • Building-related tasks including repairs to doors, tiling, plastering, flooring, and general carpentry - perhaps even some basic plumbing!
  • Attending callouts/breakdowns and carrying out remedial repairs and replacements
  • Providing materials lists and time estimates for return remedial works
  • You will also be expected to work as part of an on-call rota to cover out-of-hours emergencies and there may be occasions when you’ll be asked to work outside your core discipline to support other teammates

What we’re looking for in our idealMulti-skilled Carpenter:

  • Experienced carpenter with working knowledge of other related trades, including but not limited to repairs to doors, tiling, plastering, flooring, and general carpentry, and basic plumbing.
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • A good appreciation of Health and Safety
  • Highly customer focused with experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Experience of working within a mobile workforce, ideally in an FM company
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full driving licence
