SCD Group Ltd are seeking an experienced Fibre Network Designer to join their Operations team. Reporting to the Operations Director, this is an exciting time to join the company, who are going through a period of growth following the award of several new FTTP contracts.

You will be responsible for producing robust and cost effective civils and fibre optic infrastructure designs in accordance with defined methodologies, architecture, engineering rules and project timelines.

You will create planning packs to facilitate the delivery of optical fibre solutions between data centres and customer sites.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Using the latest company-approved software, completing network plans and as built drawings
  • To read, understand and work to engineering rules determined by internal policies and procedures and client requirements.
  • Analysing survey information from site planners to complete and update designs.
  • To ensure the correct internal and client guidelines are used when completing any drawings.
  • Correct management of drawing version control in line with internal and client procedures.
  • Working with the Project team to ensure all relevant drawings are completed in a timely manner that meet the client’s requirements.
  • Work with the Project team to produce industry-standard as built drawings.

Essential Experience / Skills

  • Previous experience in FTTP design methodologies, with proven track record of delivering successful fibre projects.
  • Experience of using fibre design software packages
  • Detailed knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems
  • Granular attention to detail, with a positive, pro-active work attitude.

Desirable Experience / Skills

  • Experience of using IQ-Geo
  • Civils planning experience
  • NRSWA accreditation
