The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation, offering care and protection to donkeys and mules worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

We are seeking a person with a passion for Donkeys to join our busy teams as a Farm Worker Groom, located at one of our farms within the Sidmouth and Honiton, Devon. Possessing substantial equine and animal husbandry experience, you will provide care and rehabilitation for the resident donkeys and their environment, supporting the Farm Manager and Farm Supervisor on matters such as donkey health, feeding regimes, Health and Safety and land management, and liaising with other staff members to facilitate the efficient and safe running of the farm.

Able to demonstrate excellent team-working and communication skills, you will effectively interact with colleagues, Quality Time Volunteers and work experience students. Acting as an ambassador for the charity by acquiring a good knowledge of The Donkey sanctuary and the work of the charity worldwide, you will positively engage with visitors and members of the public by providing appropriate and accurate information to enhance their visitor experience whilst at The Donkey Sanctuary. This rewarding role requires a person who can both work on their own initiative, and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to personal development are essential, as is a full driving licence.

If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving program of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. We have a number of part time and full time roles on permanent and fixed term contracts available at our farms within the Sidmouth and Honiton areas. On your application can you please state whether you are looking for full or part time.

Closing date for completed applications: Friday 12 November 2021.

The Donkey Sanctuary is a Disability Confident Employer.

The Donkey Sanctuary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (children and adults), and expects all staff and volunteers to undertake this commitment. Applicants will be subject to safer recruitment processes, including an application for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check where required for the post.
