Family Support Mentors (ref V108)
Interim contract: 20th July – 27th August
Start: 20th July
Hours: 9:30am – 2:30pm, Tuesday to Friday
Location: Weston Super Mare, North Somerset
Remuneration: £8.94 – £14.16 per hour
Elementa are running a summer scheme known as ‘Help A Family’ in partnership with North Somerset County Council. The scheme has been awarded government funding to offer support to families during the summer break who have been most socially affected by the impact of the pandemic.
As a family support mentor you will be involved in a diverse range of support activities on the programme, working with both children & parents to ensure that from September, they have had social interaction, education & career advice and social support in order to more able to integrate into school & society again.
The kind of support successful applicants would be required to offer will vary, and include:
  • engaging young people
  • bridging summer-autumn term education gaps
  • building a ‘personal skills toolkit’ for september
  • assisting with employability / CV workshop skills
  • working with those on/or considering the kickstarter scheme
  • 6 weeks of support
    • We are looking for people that have family support backgrounds, Sure Start experience or mentoring experience. If you have experience in any of these areas we would be interested in hering from you.
    It is preferred that applicants be available for the whole of the scheme (hours & days) for consistency however being available for part of the week or part of the scheme may be suitable.
    As Elementa is the recruiting partner all applicants still being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure unless you have a current DBS on the update service. A clear DBS certificate is highly desirable however a positive DBS certificate is not an absolute barrier to being considered. All applicants will be promptly responded to
