We are looking to recruit to a Full Time Portering Supervisor role in our busy facilities Department at the Tunbridge Wells Pembury Hospital. The Supervisor’s role includes overseeing the portering staff. The portering team transfer patients throughout the hospital, exchange medical gas cylinders/delivery, collection and delivery of post, collection and disposal of waste and linen, moving beds, equipment and furniture, cleaning stretchers and wheelchairs and other equipment.

Previous supervisory experience and staff management is required. Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment or within a Portering role will be an advantage. Good IT and communication skills necessary.

  • Allocate workload to team ensuring delivery
  • Maintain accurate, computerised staffing ledgers for pay and HR purposes.
  • Communicate at all levels of the organisation, written and oral, to ensure service demands are met and maintained.
  • Assist the Portering Manager with the development, introduction and maintenance of a robust training plan and ensure essential skills training at all levels and all disciplines to meet FM learning needs.
  • Assist the Portering Manager with the management of direct line reports for all HR issues.
  • Undertake monitoring of Daily Medical Gas stock checks, equipment, linen, post for site, site checks throughout the day, maintain communication between supervisors to delivery team targets/handover as well as ensuring safe portering staff level and Portering response as required by the Portering Manager. Assist the implementation of action plans to address failures.
  • Monitor performance of Portering Team through the Trust portering management systems as directed.
