Role Responsibility

Responsible for the application of the maintenance methodology to ensure operational capacity and capability, physical resources, plant and space necessary to achieve safe and efficient maintenance in line with technical standards, operational and safety policy and legislation.
  • To set high standards, continue the drive towards creating a sustainable Health & Safety culture coupled with Environmental excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and technical standards. Promote Health, Safety & Environment within the workplace and ensure safe working systems are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure risk assessments and PTW are carried out at all times, including safe systems of work are used.
  • Ensure hardwired interlocks are working correctly to ensure staff and plant safety
  • Manage the current plant electrical networks to optimise their efficiency including changes and modifications to reduce breakdowns, and communicate plans and changes effectively
  • To assist in managing electrical maintenance and projects utilising employees and/or contractors ensuring high levels of workmanship and safety are maintained.
  • Plan, deliver and ensure availability of critical spares for routine and planned maintenance, and ensure risk plans exist for emergent failures
  • Communicate and liaise with other departments and form cross functional links.
  • Improve current plant electrical networks by implementing improvements and innovations to prevent downtime in support of the plant operations
  • Take the lead and actively assist the electrical dept
  • Manage electrical systems to minimise risk and improve plant performance
  • Ensure availability of electrical plant for production and engineering to meet time targets
  • Fault finding of existing systems and electrical network
  • Maintain record of all network changes
  • Continually challenge the current network design to ensure plant needs are optimised
  • Manage emergent electrical and system failures at all times
  • Manage obsolescence of existing plant by regularly checking component standards
  • Use of SAP to manage and complete jobs
  • Part of Electrical department call out rota, to technically support shift electricians
  • Ability to perform under pressure ensuring plant reliability is kept at world class levels.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualifications:
  • Time served Apprenticeship
  • HNC in Electrical / Process Control Engineering
  • IOSH as a minimum
  • BS-7671 IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition
  • HV Switching (Authorised Person)

Experience:

  • 4 years experience in maintenance or inspection in heavy industry where process control is used extensively
  • Sound knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.
  • Able to work with direct management
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance principles and techniques.
  • Good knowledge of heavy engineering plant and equipment
  • Knowledge of Siemens PCS7 systems
  • Good knowledge of electrical networks and systems including High Voltage and Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of problem solving tools
  • Computer literacy, Maintenance Management Systems (SAP)

The successful candidate should be highly motivated, a clear communicator and possess a positive, can do attitude.

  • Collaborates - work across the business to ensure all changes to systems are communicated effectively, reducing the risk of errors.
  • Courage - Continually challenge the network configuration, processes, reliability and maintenance regimes to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates Self Awareness - Manage and challenge the plant uptime targets to assure business operations. Continually develop own knowledge to offer the best support solutions to the plant.
  • Being Resilient - Ensure electrical department meet uptime targets. Provide sufficient support to assure 24/7 operation of the plant.

The results driven individual will need to show high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in order to be effective in this role
