In preparation for normal service resuming in the live events sector, Showsec is seeking Event Safety Stewards to join our Oxford team on a casual basis.

The rate of pay is £9.99 per hour comprising a pay rate of £8.91 and indicative holiday pay of £1.08 per hour.

Of particular interest are candidates who would be interested commencing as an Event Safety Steward but quickly training to become an SIA Door Supervisor (training which Showsec can facilitate subject to you meeting certain application criteria, however please note the training course lasts for 8 days and will be unpaid).

So, what is an SIA Door Supervisor?

An SIA Door Supervisor is a licenced individual responsible for;

  • Screening a person’s suitability to enter an event or venue including searching of persons and/or property to prevent prohibited items from entering the premises
  • Responding to incidents as they occur
  • Providing a security presence to prevent and detect crime within a designated area
  • Ejecting individuals from a venue, event or designated area

There is a perception that SIA Door Supervisors need a strong physical presence, but this is not wholly accurate, certainly not at many of the venues/events in which we operate. In fact, we’re a lot more interested in your communication and customer facing skills than how much you can lift at the gym! Approx. 20% of our SIA Door Supervisors are female – we’re proud this number is above the industry average, but we’d love to increase it further.
