European Design Manager (m/f/d)

At Sandvik Coromant, we develop engineered solutions to support business segments such as Aerospace or Automotive for global markets, using the latest design methods and processes. We are now looking for a European Design Manager to lead and manage our European Design Teams in order to fulfil our promises to deliver the best technical solutions.

YourChallenge:

In this position you lead and manage reporting design teams, spread in different locations, to ensure that engineering tasks are completed on-time. You challenge our teams to propose the best solutions based on customers’ demand using the appropriate resources.

As European Design Manager you develop teams with a focus on different competences or application needed based on market demands and challenge, improve and develop methods, tools and processes when needed. You also proactively share best practice to obtain operational excellence in the organization.

In your role, you report directly to the Site Manager Schmalkalden.

You drive and apply our Sandvik Core Values and Code of Conduct in all business and personal dealings, drive your team to adopt and apply the Safety First Culture.

Your Profile:

We’re looking for someone with a relevant university degree of Bachelor / Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience / education. You should have several years working experience in a similar position, with designing and manufacturing background, with detailed knowledge relating to cutting tools (CAD & CAM).

As an experienced networker you generate productive relationships with internal and external partners that improve access to resources and expertise. Your creativity and flexibility enable yourself to deal with opportunities and changes to apply it to different situations.

As we work in an international setting, you have good business and also technical communication skills in English, both written and verbal. You can either be based at Sandvik’s facilities in Schmalkalden or alternatively at another Sandvik location within Europe. Business travel within Europe is a natural part of the job.
