An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Assistant working for Calderdale & Huddersfield Solutions Ltd, based at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The company employs 450 staff in a wide range of functions, ranging from cleaners, drivers, catering, retail and portering staff to specialist engineering and procurement posts.

We are in the process of developing an exciting and innovative commercial strategy which envisages significant growth and development over the next three years.

The suitable candidate will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team based within the Estates Department at HRI but also across all properties within the community owned by CHFT.

The role involves the delivery of front line maintenance services, defect and breakdown response and pre-planned maintenance tasks within the hospital and community properties.

Please note, as part of our staff bonus scheme colleagues can earn an extra £500 per year and 5 days extra annual leave subject to fulfilling certain criteria.

We are seeking a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual who is able to work well under pressure to provide maintenance duties The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust. The post holder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repair across a wide range of plant and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager. Undertake work in a safe and effective manner, complying with all relevant safety legislation, Health Technical Memorandums and manufacturers manuals and procedures; to comply with Estates Department Health & Safety Procedures Manual on any work undertaken.

Available at all times to contribute and work towards the safety and welfare of patients and other staff, and respond to any incidents eg fire, flood, trapped people in lifts. First response building services failure and plant faults.

Carry out maintenance tasks including statutory, mandatory, planned preventative and reactive maintenance. A 37.5 hour, 5 day week is worked, however it will be the responsibility of the post holder to work any essential overtime as may be required to fulfil the needs of the role. Assist the Estates Team in providing and maintaining excellence in maintenance services and an environment that supports and enhances patient care.
