We are looking for a Data Engineer to work with us on data-driven innovations that will affect the way that millions of UK citizens interact with DWP. You’ll improve the user’s experience of our services and via analysis and visualisation of complex data sets as we design and build self-service apps that better suit the evolving needs of society.

Our Data Engineers work at the forefront of DWP’s aspiration to innovate and modernise our services. We have a great opportunity for an MI/BI specialist to join our thriving Data community.



You’ll be responsible for MI and BI reports and dashboards. You’ll need experience with both, as well as being able to create automated data pipelines and rapid prototype production.



By gathering and analysing data from various sources and producing visualisations for actionable insights, you’ll help us design and build self-service apps that really work for us and our users.



Your insight will drive better planning, better delivery, and greater efficiency across our teams. You’ll give us the data, and the stories, we need to deliver against our extraordinary aims, and empower our leaders to make the right decisions.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?



  • Designs, develops. codes, tests, corrects and documents simple programs or scripts under the direction of others.
  • Aware of the need to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and understands what communication is required to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understands the appropriate media to communicate findings. Shapes and shares communications cognisant of the audience.
  • Experience with one or more BI Tools eg. Qlik, Power BI etc.
  • Programming Languages - Experience in SQL.
  • Awareness of cloud technologies and key services.
